Melissa Nielson
CMHC Intern
St. George, UTI offer couples therapy, marriage counseling, and relationship counseling for partners navigating betrayal, broken trust, infidelity, emotional disconnection, high-conflict patterns, pornography concerns, sexual betrayal, and attachment wounds.
I am a Clinical Mental Health Counselor Intern practicing under the supervision of Rebecca Grondel, LMFT. My work with couples is trauma-informed, attachment-based, and informed by Emotionally Focused Therapy (the leading approach to couples therapy). This means I pay close attention to emotional safety, nervous system responses, attachment needs, and the deeper fears that often live underneath conflict.
In therapy, we may work on:
- Understanding the negative cycle that keeps you stuck
- Slowing down conflict before it becomes overwhelming
- Rebuilding trust after betrayal or infidelity
- Repairing unresolved attachment wounds
- Creating new experiences of safety, closeness, and connection
- Strengthening emotional and physical intimacy
- Rebuilding confidence in yourself, your partner, and the relationship
Couples therapy is not about deciding who is the problem. It is about understanding the pattern that has taken over and helping both partners experience new ways to reach for each other.
