ADOS-2 Autism Screening in
Utah and Washington

Gold-standard diagnostic assessment for children and adults

What is the ADOS-2?

The Gold Standard for Autism Diagnostic Assessment

The ADOS-2 (Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, Second Edition) is the most widely used and clinically validated tool for diagnosing Autism Spectrum Disorder. It is recognized internationally as the gold standard for autism assessment.

The assessment evaluates communication, social interaction, play, and imagination through structured activities and observation. It uses five flexible modules adapted to the individual's age and language level, making it appropriate for toddlers through adults.

Getting an accurate diagnosis is often the first step toward understanding yourself or your child more fully, and accessing the right support. Many families describe the assessment process as a relief, even when the results are difficult.

What to expect from the ADOS-2 assessment
What to Expect

A Warm, Structured Assessment at Your Pace

The ADOS-2 is administered in a single session by a trained clinician. It typically runs between 45 and 90 minutes depending on the module used. The assessment involves a series of structured activities and naturalistic social interactions rather than a written test.

Following the assessment, you'll receive a written report summarizing the findings, including diagnostic impressions and recommendations for next steps. We walk through the results with you and answer any questions you have.

We offer assessments for children, adolescents, and adults. If you're not sure whether an ADOS-2 is the right starting point, we're happy to discuss your situation in a brief consultation call before scheduling.
